The 15th annual Kids Fishing Day was held on Sunday, June 23 at Heritage Park.  Over 1,000 kids received a fishing rod, bait, a snack and a Subway Sub.  The weather was perfect and families enjoyed fishing and activities at Barrie's beautiful waterfront.  Thank you to everyone that supports this fun, family event.

Thank You Barrie Colts!

On Sunday January 20th, the Rotary Club of Barrie Kempenfelt, with our partners The Barrie Colts and our generous sponsors, held the 16th Annual Colt For The Day.  It was a fantastic day that raised $6,000 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Simcoe County and gave a lot of kids (age 6-11) the chance to skate with their hockey heroes!

We are extremely fortunate to have the tremendous support of the entire Barrie Colts organization.  Their unwavering commitment has made a significant impact on the young children who attend and made a difference in our community.

Since its inception, Colt for the Day has allowed more than 1,200 children the opportunity to meet their favorite Barrie Colt player while raising over $100,000 for Big Brother and Big Sisters and other local charities.

Kempenfelt Rotary donated to the Dekpor School Development Organisation which allowed six children to participate in their food programme for the
2018-2019 school year.  Families in Dekpor, Ghana are faced with the impossible decision of having to try to provide enough food for their children or giving them an education. The truth is, without the food programme, the neediest wouldn’t attend school. Some days kids are sent to school with a handful of peanuts, and other days with nothing at all.
When extreme hunger is constantly present, it’s impossible to concentrate on lessons. Dekpor School Development Organisation has been able to put these students on the food programme for the rest of this school year, which means they will receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day. Not only that, but they will also receive any required medical attention and also have their summer school fees covered.

You can follow them on Facebook and check out their website.
Every year, the Kempenfelt Rotary Club volunteers to staff a Salvation Army Kettle for a day. This year, we covered Kettle duty on Dec. 8 at the Beer Store on Bayfield Street, just north of the Georgian Mall. Volunteers  spread good cheer, jingled their bells and collected donations from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.   Feele good to support the Salvation Army and help raise funds that go to helping folks in the heart Barrie community during the Holiday Season.
